I met P'fessor Gus few years ago and I am so glad he coached me on my surf lessons. I am from Brazil and I was attending fitness college here in Australia at the time and I need it to improve my swimming and my surf skills. He was so helpful and motivated to share all his knowledge about surfing that made me love his classes. P'fessor Guus played a positive role in my introduction to surfing. I grew up I MN and UT as a snowboarder and was fascinated by the sport. While riding for Oakley and working directly with him,he set up multiple surf days or "cross over" days for us snowboarders. By setting us up on the right equipment and definitely leading by example (P'fessor Guus rips!), my friends and I were hooked. At the time P'fessor Guus lived in Seal Beach, CA, where the water can be a bit dirty from LA..he showed me a trick that I still do to this day to keep your ears clean after surfing dirty water. Thx P'fessor Guus for being my surf coach, protector / spirit animal , and all around amazing human. I surf almost 5 days a week now and love something about every session.
